Kathryn Topper

Kathryn Topper is Associate Professor of Classics at the University of Washington, where she teaches courses in Greek and Roman art, archaeology, and culture. Her research centers on Greek and Hellenistic art, with a focus on the ways in which images intersect with literature, ritual, spectacle, and performance. Her publications include The Imagery of the Athenian Symposium (Cambridge 2012) and articles on various issues in Greek vase painting and related art. She is currently writing a book titled The Thalamegos of Ptolemy IV Philopator: Power, Spectacle, and the Royal Ship in Hellenistic Alexandria.
