Matthew Notarian is Assistant Professor of Classics in the Department of History and Classical Studies at Hiram College in northeast Ohio. As an archaeologist, he has conducted fieldwork at several sites in Italy and Greece. His research focuses on Roman urbanism and social history, with a particular emphasis in recent years on the application of digital technologies and computational methodologies in field recording and analysis. He has also published on Roman villas and the cities of the Roman suburbium. Previously, he was a fellow of the American Academy in Rome and an exchange fellow of the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa.
