Christopher A. Tuttle is the associate director of the American Center of Oriental Research in Amman. He is a codirector of the Brown University Petra Archaeological Project and a visiting scholar at the Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World at Brown University. He is a specialist on the Nabataeans, and his Brown University Ph.D. dissertation dealt with Nabataean coroplastic material. He has worked extensively in Petra on a variety of excavations and conservation and cultural resource management projects. He received a dual bachelor’s degree in classical and medieval studies from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
