Brian Martens (DPhil, Oxford) is an archaeologist specializing in the art and visual cultures of the eastern Mediterranean basin. His research focuses on the history, economy, and trade of figural marble sculpture. He has over a decade of field experience in the Athenian Agora, where he supervises excavations in the industrial and residential neighborhood behind the Stoa Poikile. Brian currently holds a Getty-American Council of Learned Societies Postdoctoral Fellowship in the History of Art.
