Piers Mitchell is based in the Department of Archaeology at the University of Cambridge. His research interests focus on health and disease in past populations. He has been president of the British Association for Biological Anthropology and Osteoarchaeology (BABAO) and of the Paleopathology Association (the worldwide organization for the study of disease in the past). Piers is director of the Ancient Parasites Laboratory at Cambridge, where microscopy and biomolecular techniques are used to understand how parasites affected ancient civilizations.
