Michael G. Hasel is Professor of Near Eastern Studies and Archaeology at Southern Adventist University and director of the Institute of Archaeology and Lynn H. Wood Archaeological Museum. He has written and edited ten books and over 150 articles and book reviews in peer-reviewed journals, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and popular magazines. His research focuses on Egyptian military interaction with the southern Levant, the intersection between ancient history and material culture. He has worked as an archaeologist for over 30 years at eleven sites in Israel, Jordan, and Cyprus serving as co-director of excavations at Khirbet Qeiyafa, Socoh survey, and the Fourth Expedition to Lachish.
