Julia Lenaghan holds a B.A. from Princeton University in Classical Languages and a Ph.D. in Classical Archaeology from the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU. She is a specialist in marble statuary and has worked extensively on the excavations at Aphrodisias in Turkey. She has been part of the AHRC project on the Last Statues of Antiquity at the University of Oxford and the ERC project on the Roman Emperor Seen from the Provinces at the Università di Verona. She is interested especially in techniques of copying and reproduction, from antiquity to cast galleries to 3D scanning, and their impact on assessments of value.
