Carrie Atkins is an assistant professor in the Department of Historical Studies and the Department of Classics at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on shipwrecks and maritime trade to investigate how mobile objects mediate social, economic, religious, and cultural interactions. She has published on topics such Roman maritime trade in the Late Republican and Early Imperial periods, maritime religion, stone anchors, digital recording methodologies, and Late Bronze Age maritime trade. She currently supervises an underwater survey of an anchorage and a submerged site in south-central Cyprus.
