Santo Privitera received his Ph.D. in archaeology and ancient history from the University of Venice in 2008, specializing in Aegean civilizations. A former member of the Italian Archaeological School at Athens (2001–2003), in 2011–2015 he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Aegean Prehistory and afterward at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. He is currently an assistant professor of Aegean Archaeology at the Department of History and Cultures of the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, Italy. Since 1998, he has excavated in Greece and Italy, mostly focusing on the site of Hagia Triada in Crete. He has widely published on various international archaeological periodicals and is the author of five books: Case e rituali a Creta nel periodo Neopalaziale (Athens: Italian School of Archaeology, 2008), I granai del re (Padua: University of Venice, 2010), Principi, Pelasgi e Pescatori: L’Attica nella Tarda Età del Bronzo (Athens: Italian School of Archaeology, 2013); Haghia Triada, III: The Late Minoan III Buildings in the Villaggio (Athens: Italian School of Archaeology, 2015); Phaestia Tellus: Immagazzinamento, Economia e Società nella pianura della Messarà a Creta nell’Età del Bronzo (Rome: CNR – Istituto di Scienze del Patrimonio Culturale).
